Well, here’s a bit of info about the 750. There’s a problem with its audio driver. They say it’s a bug. This bug can result in missing phone calls or possible appointments.

However, Palm has responded to this swiftly and uploaded a fix to this bug.

What’s the bug all about? Well, there are instances when the phone can not make a sound of incoming calls and notifications. When inquired about this, Palm responded that this is due to too many applications using the audio driver at the same time.

Just look at these applications: Notes Recorder, the Vibrate Motor, Voice Command, Windows Media Player, camera recorder, video recorder, When these applications run at the same time the audio driver simply gets overwhelmed.
It’s good Palm released a software update to fix this problem.

If you’re thinking of the 750, well hold on and get the Treo 680 instead.

Now you have the thinnest and the lightest Treo. Alas! the reduction in size doesn’t come without its shortcomings.

I’m particular with the treo 680 battery. You’ll easily know how important this is when out in the middle of a very important talk with a business contact, your Treo 680 dies out because of the battery.

This happened to me a couple of days ago. Very embarrassing indeed. Luckily, I was able to get a landline connection nearby and continue my call with the business contact.
Because of this I tried to google what would be the possible reasons of this shorter battery life.

I discovered that due to te reduced size of the battery, its talk time was also reduced. I mean, I had a treo 650 before and I was expecting at least equal talk time if not longer with my treo 680.

Well, Palm has placed 1200mAh battery instead of the 1800mAh standard Treo battery. The result was a reduced thickness for the 680 from 10mm to 6mm.

I’m a businessperson and not quite a techy guy, but just by looking at the figures, the 1200mAh battery of the Treo 680 is without a doubt inferior to the 1800mAh which the standard Treo phones have.

Well, I checked the promised talk time of the 680 and yes it says 4 hours whereas the treo 650 has 6 hours. Sorry for me, becauseI was really attracted to the slimness of the Treo 680 that I overlooked this.

If talk time is not that important to you, then you can still go with the treo 680.

For you to do a hard reset of your Treo 680, you can do the following steps:

Important! Important: All of your data will be deleted from the unit if you do a hard reset, so make sure that you do a HotSync before starting the Treo 680 hard reset procedure.

1. Detach the back panel of your Treo 680 to expose the battery.
2. Hold the power button down of the unit.
3. Firmly holding the power button, start removing the exposed battery.
4. While still keeping your fingers on the power button, place the battery back to its place.
5. Now, you will notice that your Treo 680 will reboot. You will notice a message inquiring if you would like to delete all your data.
6. Let go of the power button and press UP on the 5-way navigator.
7. HotSync your Treo 680 to restore back your data.

Are you looking for the lower cost affordable Treo? Then stop, the Treo 680 is here. When Palm conceptualized this phone, they were of the view that eventually people would move from the area of feature packed cellphones to the Treo. While it may be true that the Smartphone, where the Treo 680 belongs, is packed with all the bells and whistles one would wish for, its price and complexity would draw back many of the customers.

The Treo 680 responded favorably to these points and unveiled with the lowest introductory price no other Treo has matched. Other than the affordable price, the best other part of it is its thinner form, imagine a Smartphone which weighs a measly 5.5 oz or 156 g. Well, this new size is great as the phone won’t weigh down the pockets of your bags, trousers or even your shirts.

It securely fits in your hand and holds better because of the angled sides of its design. Without the usual antenna that the Treo is known, it also even looks much more eye-catching.

Some great features of this cellphone are the silent mode switch which vibrates when you turn it on which confirms that it is already engaged. The left side houses the volume keys and an easily modifiable side key, which, by default triggers the voice recorder. The right side holds the SD card in the center. Absolutely no buttons on this side. The SD slot is at the rear of the small plastic door which could be easily opened because of the bendable rubber joints. At the front-side is a small LED that shows you the status of your battery charging.

Well, when I saw the Treo 680, I was literally salivating. Pound for pound, this is the best Treo ever. My first consideration was the price, then the features that it has which before only the high priced Smartphones have boasted.
